Netanyahu says: No Dice
Prime Minister Netanyahu told a joint session of the United States Congress he was prepared to make “painful compromises” for peace with the Palestinians, but roundly rejected the remedy that President Obama suggested that the Jews fall back to 1967 borders in order to broker a lasting peace.
That the two men had a 90 minute talk at the White House, in somewhat cold, even unfriendly terms, only highlights the fact that Obama had not discussed or sought Netanyahu’s feeling about such an outlandish suggestion before announcing it to Congress the week before. How could two allies who have used one another for diplomatic and military purposes for over 60 years come to such a preposterous turn of events?
Such a thing is tantamount to a friend going to the boss without the other’s knowledge and proposing that the friend be given a giant pay cut in order to save a project you have been working on together, even if it might mean the friend could lose their job.
Presidential candidate Mitt Romney called it for what it was when he said, “Obama threw Israel under the bus.” Netanyahu was flabbergasted and said as much when he first heard the suggestion.
Obama’s idea is more than even pandering to the ‘Arab Spring’ and its revolutionaries. The Palestinians had just engineered It shows the antichrist deceit at work which will ultimately prove to form an unholy conspiracy with the leaders of Israel and betray the trust and confidence of the Jewish people.
For now, Netanyahu and Jewish rule is holding fast. He said the ’67 borders were indefensible.
But it is clear that the diplomatic timing of Obama’s suggestion was haply synchronized with the Palestinian day of mourning known as Nakba Day. The day when Palestinians commemorate their ‘exodus’ from their homes and businesses after the British left in 1948, and when the Jews quickly formed a government within 48 hours, which was immediately recognized by Harry Truman’s U.S. government.
The U.S. and EU took the tac that Israel once again failed to provide a vision for the peace process in a changing Middle East, and that Netanyahu had intentionally introduced ‘new terms and phrases’ that will probably hamper any peace efforts in the future, ignoring the untenable nature of their call to have Israel withdraw to a position that had encouraged hostility from their Arab neighbors to the tune of two major surprise attacks designed to wipe them out of any presence in the Middle East.
Their allies feigned surprise that Netanyahu demanded that a final agreement not be made along “indefensible lines,” and that he did not define what borders he would consider “defensible”, though that should be manifest by Israeli policy since the ’73 war regardless of which party held the reigns of national power.
The whole strategy by the White House is the only thing that is transparent to the discerning eye. Clearly, the antichrist west with the U.S. clinging desperately to its fading kingly role in the West, is trying to shore up its economic colonialism in Africa (particularly in the Arab north along the Mediterranean) and to try to shore up the bungholes in the sinking fleet of Muslim and Arab nations throughout the Middle East and Asia.
Daily the U.S. position grows untenable, so why not toss Israel under the bus, as Romni so aptly put it, and make their position the glaring problem for all eyes to see.
The U.S. does not like the idea of losing their neo-colony Egypt, which is the keystone of all the nations of the Arab Spring. They see that the young blood in Egypt is of a different mindset than the godfathers who have run things since the casting off their last Pharaoh right after WWII. They always took the deal they could not refuse. The revolution has already resisted the honey offered by the U.S. once, sniffing it for what it really is, just the same old blood money.
We love freedom so much we will slap the face of the Jews and give you some freedom in return, because we’re all about freedom.
The diplomatic problems for the U.S. are obvious, so they have to keep moving because the hand is quicker than the eye. The main criticism of Obama is that he is sluggish in response, so he is trying everything to look like a bold and visionary leader to the Arab Spring.
But to quote Leonard Cohen – Everybody knows that the boat is leaking, everybody knows that the captain lied.”
The U.S. knows in turn that it is on shifting ground as the Proverb so aptly tells ……
We’re not going broke we are broke. Our power is based on rights and nothing else. Even Obama knows he has to keep tallying the bananas, playing chinese checkers and singing the praises of freedom and liberty and muffling the groans of the slaves and the sound of the lash.
The dastardly dealings with Israel are for show in hopes of convincing the Muslim world that we are not sticking the knife in the backs of leaders there which we have so deftly propped up for so many years.
One suspects this will end up like the compulsive liar who creates so many different stories that it becomes impossible to keep everything straight. Netanyahu didn’t fall for it; I doubt if the hub of the revolutionary Arab spring, Egypt, will either. instead of saying, “show me the money“, they may just say “stow it“.
Sooner or later this will happen. Egypt and a consortium of allies are the only block of nations destined to be in full opposition to the antichrist throughout the entire Tribulation period leading up to Armageddon. We who wait on the Lord hope it is sooner than later.
SIDE NOTE:
Ending a tumultuous five-day visit to Washington, Netanyahu said Tuesday he was willing to give up “parts of the ancestral Jewish homeland” in negotiations to create a separate Palestinian state.
But he said that Jerusalem must remain the undivided capital of Israel, that the families of Palestinian refugees cannot reclaim their homes in Israel, and that Israel will need to deploy military forces along the eastern border of the proposed new state for the “long term.”
