I Beg to Disagree With Prince Ea; I Agree With The Prince of Love
John Lennon sang about it, Imagine all the people, Living life in peace...Robert Kennedy, Mother Teresa, Ralph Waldo Emerson, St. Francis of Assisi, Martin Luther King Jr. are only a few who spoke of it. The 1955 song, “Let there be peace on earth, And let it begin with me” is right in line with rap artist Prince Ea’s solution to the whole matter.
“Prince who?”, some may ask. I’m talking about Richard Williams, aka Prince Ea (Sumerian mythology means “The prince of the Earth”) is a young American rapper and activist from St. Louis, Missouri who has recently told his message to the world “Why I Think This World Should End – Prince Ea”
February 9 2015 – Forty-nine million Facebook views and over 2 million shares has given his message a prominent and influential place in this prince of a fellow’s earth. His message is two part, the first presents his bleak view as he raps out what we in this world are doing to each other; the second is one of hope – hope in the goodness of you and I and our ability to turn around the folly of mankind. I agree in part with Prince Ea’s suggested conclusion that Love is the fix.
Yet truth is, I wholeheartedly and completely agree with the other Prince, the man called Jesus…The true Prince of Peace.
He had the perfectly correct solution to the problems that plague the world in every one of today’s ailing societies. Jesus, when answering men of the world as to what is the our greatest priority, said “thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like it, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these… On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Mrk 12:30-31 & Matt. 22:40
This means doing these two things is to live in God’s perfect society and fulfill his every word.
In some ways Prince Ea is not far off the mark of Truth. His performance of “Why I Think This World Should End” gives compelling support and a contemporary view on many of the nineteen conditions already delivered to us in the Bible about the state of peoples hearts in the last days.
Bible prophecy is true. Prophecy told Man 2000 years ago that in the last days people will be:
“this know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.
Having a form of godliness, but denying the His power.” 2 Tim 3:1-5
Prince Ea describes much of what God himself already said the world would become. It’s happening now. Kudos to Prince Ea for making a noble stand in a tough world, for calling out what he is seeing. He’s not the first to do this and this part of his message is compelling and worth listening to.
Having said this Prince Ea, close as he may be to truths and reality, has missed the mark. He has shown to me he’s not inspired by the Spirit of God but by a spirit of humanism – which is to have nothing more or less than faith in man.
There’s no denying we ought to love one another. Jesus already said that. Wouldn’t we all agree that taking time to stop thinking of ourselves and start considering the needs of others, showing acts of kindness, generosity, even cutting someone some slack at our own cost would make a difference in our daily lives? Yes Prince Ea, the answer is Love and if we let Christ’s love win out it will cure all our ills. Love will cast out all our fears and change our way of thinking. Love will convince us of what is right and wrong. Love will give us the needed courage and strengthen the inner man to do what is right, to do what is the will of God. Let us pledge to hear Christ and do what He says.
Prince Ea, aka The Prince of the Earth (Biblical connotations connect this name to Satan) is telling us all we have to do is look inward to our own hearts to find this source of love – He says the path towards a new beginning starts within you – thinking we can end this world and start a new and better world. Such false faith are common beliefs of the worldly, among those that have faith in man, not in God.
This Chinese Proverb – Only If we do not change our direction, then we are likely to end up where we are headed for. With Prince Ea’s gospel of love we have changed our direction from Christ’s simple path of love that relies on Him being the exclusive guide.
Changing our direction, turning around, this is an accurate expression of what’s needed – repenting. Knowing what we need to repent of is the key and God holds the key to that door. Jesus, seizing a perfect teaching opportunity, answered a guy who called him Good Master. “Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.” Repent of the idea (change our direction) that any man is innately good. Believe God’s word that says The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jer 17:9
God does not play mind games; He isn’t trying to confuse us. He tells us the truth and he tells us what to do about it. Prince Ea and others like him have things perverted; They often replace God with ourselves and remove our Creator from the picture entirely. The solution to our ills do not start with us, the sick ones who have brought this world to what has become. It begins with God. God shows us the path towards a new beginning. “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” Ezek 36:26
We’ve already been given good counsel from God – “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Eccl 12:13
Keep his commandments? Remember Jesus already told us – “thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these…..On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Mark 12:30-31/Matt 22:40
There is good news; there is still hope. The pessimistic monologue of Price Ea’s message does not have to be in vain. Our hope does not have to be placed in the hopeless but instead our hope can be discovered in God who has already informed us that this blue marble would be found in perilous times indeed. Peace between men on earth, the way men think and hope for it, is not a promise God has given to mankind. God hopes in his promise of peace that each one of us can realize with him an eternal peace between man and God. Jesus, the Prince of Peace has already won over the way for us to live in a state where Love prevails and everyone with Him gets to be involved and benefit from Love’s upshot.
So get it right Prince Ea, The path (Way) towards a new beginning (Life) begins with Jesus Christ (Truth).
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
