A Smattering of Some Typical Papal Scandals Thru History
“Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.” Revelation 2:20
History is a component of time that the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church often look to as an advantageous avenue to teach the 1.2 billion adherents that they are rich in church dogma, teachings, traditions, influence and knowledge, having all they need while relying on a past they say has been securely established in the apostles and with Peter as their first pope.
But history under the reins of truth is not subject to the manipulations of the Papacy though historically the Popes have performed their demagoguery upon humanity to win the minds and hearts of the callous peoples and enslave those who are born into as ignorant children. Persons, however, who are discriminating, not prejudice level minded, have been able to recognize and accept the truth about the myriad elements of Roman Catholic doctrine and the high degree of the hypocrisy of the Papal throne in Rome. Witness, for instance, the bloody and century fight of the persecuted believers during the time which history has dubbed, the Reformation. In that time, people who worshipped Christ and not the throne of men, were not only denied access to God (though the Papacy actually could not, in reality, deny any believer in Christ access to God) they were literally branded like animals, whether man or woman, as evil heretics and haters of both man and God. They burned believers in Christ at the stake, absconded with their homes and property, raped their children and desecrated their nuns, and obstinately libeled and slandered anyone, both small and great, who opposed their lies and stood firmly against its aims.
The Papacy has always employed spin doctors to rewrite and ingeniously counter the utterance of the truth, so that the truth of what actually is, may not be discovered, so their sins will not be uncovered.
When we accept a version of history untrue we must suffer the consequences that come with believing and living a lie, for it shall always give life to false hopes which are the seeds of crooked and perverse works that are lame and perverse things not durable and necessarily destined for oblivion.
But confusion and lies aggressively sown over time are the things of politics, not God, they sweep true things away like dust in the wind. What remains is a field of thorns and thistles barren of nourishment that leaves the people starving to death. This is a “tried and true” method of Machiavellian politics. The Vatican when dealing with the difficulties of sordid affairs and the indignation voiced by the angry accusations of its own subjects has employed Machiavellian methods before Machiavelli had ever seen the light of day.
Today there is a wide range of scandalous matters that are converging upon the Vatican and its reigning monarch, Pope Francis. The Vatican banking scandal, rapes of innocent children, coverups of the deaths of pregnant teenagers, and priests, even Popes with connections to the holocaust perpetrators. Defending and denying these type of atrocities is always the Papal authority which is the sole government of the Catholic Church embodied as the Pope and his predecessors, who have established a history of how they deal with all scandals by first resorting to damage control. Because the Catholic Church is steered by the powerful anti-God spirit of Jezebel, the root of their church dogma and doctrines and their ecclesiastical affairs are most often kept unknown to their laity and the rest of the world who function outside the bounds of their good ole’ boy political institution. History shows when any unfavorable light is shined on their hidden operations and questionable beliefs or moral and illegal crimes that the Papacy has an uncanny way of dodging every bullet. Their help does not come from the righteous God, but from the guidance and help of an unrighteous and evil mind. Efforts that are bound to no limitations have been employed to snuff out the illuminating source and change any perception that would be damaging to the cause of their bogus unscrupulous religion. This historical view of the Roman Church’s reactionary political strategy shines light on Pope Francis and how he has been handling past and present scandals as well as how we should expect the scandals that will occur in the future.
Where to Begin????
The Bible tells us the spirit of Jezebel had crept into The Church as early as 90 AD. This has had its continuous effects throughout and thereby a number of Christian “denominations” have a checkered past and also a current state of sordid deeds which with certainty God is not well pleased. The Catholic church does not stand alone in this way but it is unique in its position as being the one church, pregnant with Jezebel, that has dominated and claimed ownership of the souls of men. It has always strove, sometimes with more or less success, to have a commanding influence and exercise control over world governments and other churches; For this reason, we want to consider how such a powerful religious institution headed by a no less powerful and influential leader could be negotiating an avenue that would lead to a likely prophetic position such as the False Prophet, sidekick to and worker of miracles needed by the Antichrist. No other religious leader or world church at this time has our attention in regard to prophecy like the Pope and the Roman Catholic church, so with all this in mind we’ll begin with looking into their historical reaction to only a few of the many fiery scandals they have been trying to put out since they began and continue right into the 21st century.
The Bible Scandal
During the time of Pope Damasus I the Bible was translated into Latin (called the “Vulgate”) by Jerome in 382. It was supposed to be the common Latin language of the time in western Europe but as time moved on it was a language that could be known only to the educated and those schooled in the church clergy. Latin was most generally only spoken in church ceremonies. Anyone who would attempt to translate the Bible into another language was strongly admonished by the Pope. The only translations available for nearly a thousand years were Biblical Hebrew, ancient Greek, or Latin – three practically dead languages. The Catholic Church possessed both knowledge and power over the people by withholding God’s word. It wasn’t until the mid-twentieth century that the ceremonial language was released from Latin. John Wycliffe, Jan Hus, William Tyndale are all men who suffered at the hands of Papal direction because they offered what the Catholic church wanted to withhold – a knowledge of the word of God – because the Word would reveal the un-biblical and therefore unholy evil doctrines that were among the tools being used to enslave the souls of Christians to Papal tyranny.
What happened to three men who fearlessly labored for our sakes by bringing the Bible into the hands of common men and women who desperately hungered and thirsted for His Word is a matter of general knowledge and ranks with the greatest shames and scandals of all Christian history.
John Wycliffe (1328-1384)
First to translate the Bible into English and had an understanding of the scriptures that led him to want the people to worship God and Jesus according to the Bible not according to the dictates of the Roman Catholic Church. The response of the popes involved were to work hard to shut up the mouth of Wycliffe but without success. Later, after his death, he was denounced as a heretic, all his books that could be found throughout Europe and England were burned, and he was excommunicated from the Catholic church, his soul denounced and delivered to the everlasting fires of Hell, then if that wasn’t enough his body was exhumed and burned at the stake.
Jan Hus (1369 – 1415)
Bohemian priest who saw various corruptions within the church and wanted to reform the teaching that the Catholic church was infallible – unable to be wrong. He contended that the priests, bishops, archbishops and popes were just as all other humans, sinners in heart that needed conversion and were susceptible to immorality. He had concluded that any rule established by the church is subject to question and corruption because God has already established the way for salvation and the Christian way of living in the Bible and only in
the Bible.
Hus did not hide his contempt. He had seen the Church of Rome for what it was, a human institution. Witnessing the papal schism that had taken place in his day and the shameful surge of widespread sin due to the practice of forgiving sin by paying for indulgences, Hus began to preach even more fervently about church errors. The Council of Constance was convened to put an end to the papal schism but also included a plan to end Jan Hus. Hus was tricked into coming to the council by a letter ensuring his safety and that they just wanted to talk. While he was there he was charged with heresy, arrested, and imprisoned. There he was demanded to recant his teachings but he refused and stood firmly on the teachings of the Bible. For this offense, the church sentenced him to death, denied him last rites, and burned him at the stake.
William Tyndale (1494–1536 )
Dedicated to translating the Bible into the native dialect of English for the common people. He faced resistance and no cooperation from the Roman Catholic church because again the church saw this endeavor as a way of losing power over the people. In 1525 Tyndale finished the New Testament translation while hiding in Belgium and Germany. It was widely printed and smuggled all over Europe and England where Catholics in charge burned many of them. Tyndale finished translating the Old Testament in 1530. He was eventually caught and charged with heresy for translating the Bible into English, later strangled and burned at the stake.
How did the church and its popes respond to the noble works of these Christian men who wanted to bring the Bible to common folks like us so that we could know and understand the doctrines of God and not be subjects to lies and tricks of men? They saw it as a threat to the power they held over people like you and me and put these men to death while announcing their souls will burn in Hell forever as heretics against the Catholic faith. To know the Catholic church performed all their ceremonial gatherings in Latin up until 1965, it’s possible to believe that Catholics today still might only have the Latin Vulgate, a dead language, and no access to the Word of God, only what the church leaders would tell them. Had God not raised up men like Wycliffe, Hus, and Tyndale, heretics to this day in some eyes, Christians might still be subject to the teachings of men masquerading as God’s mouthpiece.
Inquisitions Scandal
Another scandal that cast a long dark shadow over the Catholic church for centuries and still has effects today is the history of the notorious inquisitions. Before the 12th century, and always, Roman Catholicism was concerned about suppressing what they called “heresies” that could threaten their powerful position over governments and laity, or common people. The above examples Wycliffe, Hus, and Tyndale are a proof of that, but they were only the beginning of the scandal of persecution that was to begin in the 12th century ushered in by a period known as the Inquisition of the Middle Ages followed later by the Spanish Inquisition and other Inquisitions on smaller levels that included the storied witch hunts that were to take place throughout Europe and England. Called Inquisitions because of the nature of prolonged and intensive questioning and investigation at times with threats, sometimes by property seizures and financial ruin and sometimes by the egregious methods of excruciating tortures to get one to confess to heresy.
In 1252 Pope Innocent IV officially sanctioned the use of torture to extract the “truth” from suspects. Tortures condoned by the church were to not spill blood so hanging by arms or toes until the joints dislocated, stretching limbs apart on a rack, nail removal, foot roasting, red-hot pokers in the eyes, crushing testicles and any other creative means were sanctioned by the Pope to extract confessions and stop all heresies. The teachings of the Catholic church were not to be questioned or opposed without the risk of appearing before the church’s inquisitors. For centuries adherents were always told by the clergy that only the priests really knew what was necessary for salvation and everyone must accept on the authority of priests the “mysteries” of faith, a familiar tenet still to this day. This kept the laity by the “mysteries” that often made no sense, confused, and dependent on the priests for information about the requirements for salvation. As a result, the Catholic church relished a position of significant power over the common “faithful”, which they strove to maintain and increase so they could continue building their earthly power. “Heretics” were often seen as those who would speak up and question the validity of church dogma, more often by their knowledge of the Bible as it became increasingly accessible in later years. Inquisitors hoped, along with some basic persuasions, that heretics would see the error of their ideas and would return to the Roman Catholic church. However, if they continued in their heresy, the pope, finding it necessary to protect the Catholic community from such ‘disease’, would have heretics handed over to local government authorities since they violated not only Church law but civil law as well. The secular authorities would apply their own forms of punishment for such infractions which, at the time, included burning at the stake. The Catholic Church often held enormous power and influence over the monarch governments for deals that were made between Popes and Kings. The Congregation of Inquisition, as it was called, had its hierarchy of officers. At the head was the grand inquisitor known as the Holy Office which was usually nominated by the King and confirmed by the pope for their own collective interests and security. Having his papal credentials, the Holy Office enjoyed the authority to commission his powers to others he believed would be suitable, and to receive appeals from all courts. Over centuries the inquisitions took different forms, investigating and stamping out various forms of heresy, including witchcraft and Judaism.
Today much of the period of these inquisitions are looked upon with a variety of feelings. Many Catholics and non-Catholics don’t know much about its purported purpose, see it only as medieval and would rather not give it thought, never mind any discussion. Ignorance to some is bliss, so they think. The Catholic church leaders have done their work to cover-up, minimize, and justify its past in this area. One of the works done was to keep the same Congregation of Inquisition but with a fresh name that would not conjure up dark connotations. In 1908 the name of the Congregation became “The Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office”, which in 1965 further changed to “Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith” as it is still named today. The Catholic church took another step to soften its image as they prepared for what they believed will be another millennium of “Universal Church” reign as preparations were being made for the Jubilee in 2000. The Vatican is said to have opened the archives of The Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office (formerly Congregation of Inquisition) to a team of 30 scholars from around the world and according to the governor general of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, he said recent studies “seem to indicate” that “torture and the death penalty were not applied with the pitiless rigor” often ascribed to the Inquisition. This was another attempt to try and change the reality of the past; Trying to soft pedal torture and death. This is a tactic that even the crudest among men know; if you say it, enough people will eventually believe it.
Today, with the times of the wicked Inquisitions so far behind, many writers who sympathize with the Catholic church want to try rationalizing and minimizing the extent of the inquisition by claiming the civil courts (which by the way were mostly sanctioned by the Catholic Church) were running amuck with death sentences based on heretic convictions brought out through torturous means and the Catholic church had to intervene by arresting the out-of-control proceedings through contemptuous examinations. Yet the argument still remains that the examinations, endorsed by the Catholic church, condoned and supported the tortures and deaths of so many men and women in the interests of preserving the power they held over the people, which by way brought huge financial riches to their coffers. This is among the most hideous of all history.
And they still use the tried and true method of confusing the issue by finger pointing to other religions and Christian denominations that have persecuted Catholics even with death, but this tactic only tries to divert attention away from the scandalous past at hand. One should not be fooled by these devices. Don’t be scammed by any of it, it is all shameful what men have done to one another in the name of God, Catholic, or no, and it is best if one can truly remove themselves at all costs from the hideousness of bogus religion.
The Edgardo Mortara Scandal
Edgardo Mortara, born 1851 in Bologna, Papal States was six years old when he was removed by force under the authority of the Papal States and raised a Catholic even though he was born and raised by his parents as an Italian Jew. The story by Catholic church authority is that Edgardo had been given “emergency baptism” by a Catholic domestic servant when he was ill as an infant. In the Papal States it was against the law for non-Catholics to raise Catholic children. Edgardo was adopted by Pope Pius IX and entered the seminary in his teens. The affair drew international attention and controversy while Jewish organizations, along with leading political and intellectual people made protests against the Vatican for Edgardo to be returned to his parents. The political pressures grew as calls were made throughout Italy for Italian unification and independence from Papal State. Even France, whose armies garrisoned Rome to protect the Pope against the Italian revolutionists protested Papal action concerning Edgardo.
What was the Papal reaction to all this? Pope Pius lX said, “I couldn’t care less what the world thinks” to a delegation of prominent Jews who saw the Pope in 1859. He paraded Edgardo to another meeting to show the boy was happy and cared for. Some years later in 1865, he said: “I had the right and the duty to do what I did for this boy, and if I had to, I would do it again.” Defending his decision against his detractors in an 1871 speech the Pope said “Of these dogs, there are too many of them at present in Rome, and we hear them howling in the streets, and they are disturbing us in all places.”
The French did eventually remove their garrison from Rome in 1870 and the door was opened for the Italian army to move against Rome and unify a liberated Kingdom of Italy. Despite all efforts to free Edgardo Mortara and reunite him with his parents and siblings he never left the Catholic church. He was ordained a priest at 23 years old, eventually had visits with his family, and worked in the church in varying efforts trying and evangelize Jews with no success. He died at the age of 88 in 1940.
The Catholic church has continued to shove Pius lX into the face of critics despite even unfavorable opinions within their own ranks and fold. Often called “the problem pope” Pius lX reigned a record 32 years during which time many called him medieval for his attitude and actions, he was also given, from the 1st Vatican Council which he had convened, a declaration of his own infallibility, making all popes in the eyes of Catholics infallible even if one like Francis suggests he and Pope Pius XII have made mistakes, sorry popes are declared infallible.
Pius IX ‘s reign is also responsible for defining the dogma of the “Immaculate Conception” of Mary, meaning she was conceived without sin and lived a sinless life; This term is still misunderstood by many Catholics today but certainly not by Pope John Paul II (a great proponent of Mary worship) who despite protests from descendants and supporters of the Mortara family proclaimed Pius IX Venerable in 1985 then Beatified Pius IX in 2000. Beatification is the idolatrous third step in sainthood process; It certifies that a genuine miracle was worked through a dead person’s intercession allowing individuals to pray in his or her name for help. So the Papal historical reaction to the church scandal concerning the boy Edgardo was to announce no concern for those who suffered, stoop to name-calling and say it would be done again by all rights of Catholic law then elevate the bigoted man who allowed this to a position of a saint who will perform miracles for those that pray to him.
The Holocaust Scandal
The Catholic Church is still working hard at its highest levels to eradicate sticky accusations that Pope Pius XII did next to nothing to defend the Jews from the Nazi slaughter of World War II, even alleging he was an accomplice in the Holocaust. Proof that their efforts still remain active is a report, within days after the “gathering for prayer” that Pope Francis assembled at the Vatican with the Israeli and Palestinian presidents this June. The pope in an interview with the press is still defending Pius XII’s record during World War II, calling the former pope “the great defender of the Jews.” The need for this kind of damage control will likely never end as long as the Catholic church exists because the validity of the accusations do ring true and the lack of solid proof to the contrary is on the RC Church to produce. So far the tactic is far too familiar, outright denial, finger pointing to divert attention away, and continuously repeating a different softer sympathetic story with the hopes that people will eventually believe it.
The war time scandal that the Roman Catholic church has lingering, is big, and is still being unraveled. It is said that during the war Pope Pius XII used the exceptional forgery skills within the Vatican at his disposal for two objectives – first, re-assignment of new identities and papers for thousands of mostly Rabbis and important Jewish officials who – once their “flocks” had been sent to concentration camps somehow magically found their way to Rome. Such a campaign could have only been achieved through deal makings with Hitler and all parties concerned. In the same aforementioned interview, Francis said “He (Pius XII) hid many (Jews) in convents in Rome and in other Italian cities, and also in the residence of Castel Gandolfo. Forty-two babies, children of Jews and other persecuted who sought refuge were born there, in the Pope’s room, in his own bed.” The question still remains, who exactly were these Jews? It is believed that once their new identities were completed, many traveled on to Palestine as well as the United States never revealing their true story because it would have exposed their own complicity.
The scandal continues with the telling of the second objective put together by Pope Pius XII which mainly began in 1944. Greater resources were devoted to the forging new identities for tens of thousands of officials from Catholic Regimes, Nazis, Italians, Romanians, Croatian officials, and many of the “most wanted” from these organizations responsible for mass murder. The Allies name this phase of the Vatican assistance under Pope Pius XII “the Rat Lines.” Ratlines were a system of escape routes for Nazis and other fascists fleeing Europe at the end of World War II. These escape routes mainly led toward havens in South America, particularly Argentina (where Pope Francis is from), Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, and Bolivia. Other destinations included the United States, Great Britain, Canada, and the Middle East. There were two primary routes: the first went from Germany to Spain, then Argentina; the second from Germany to Rome to Genoa, then South America; it is said the two routes developed independently but eventually came together to collaborate. It is believed that many tens of thousands of mass murderers stayed in the very places Pius XII arranged, that a few years prior had housed thousands of Rabbi and Jewish officials.
Since Pius XII death in 1958, there has been a concerted effort by the Vatican and Jesuits to diminish the overwhelming evidence of racial hatred, inaction and evil by this pope, particularly to the “Holy Inquisition” that he had sanctioned, during his reign, against
the Jews.
Pope Pius XII has a twenty year extensive diplomatic history with the German Empire. From 1919 until his election to pope in 1939 he had served as nuncio (papal diplomat) to Prussia and Germany. After WWI he was among the few foreign diplomats to remain in Munich. In 1925 his diplomatic position was moved to Berlin and many of his Munich staff stayed with him for the rest of his life. Pius XII was eventually appointed Cardinal Secretary of State where he signed treaty agreements (concordats) between the Vatican and government relating to matters of mutual interest with non-communist states like Baden (1932), Austria (1933), Germany (1933), Yugoslavia (1935) and Portugal (1940). As pope, Pius XII surrounded himself with Jesuits and international clergy, which was a break from the traditional Italian leadership and employed German and Dutch Jesuit advisors. In the 1960’s, a Jesuit sponsored work titled Three Popes and the Jews (1967), by Panchas. E. Lapide attempted to portray the grand illusion and claims that Pope Pius XII never met Hitler once, which we now see as unlikely and happens to be in direct contradiction to the testimony of those closest to Pius XII for most of his life since Munich and his rise to Pontiff. This reveals some of the past efforts set about by the RC church to diminish the scandal of Pius XII past.
In a June 2014 interview with Spanish-language magazine “La Vanguardia” Pope Francis was asked:
“One of your projects is to open the Vatican archives on the Holocaust?”
Francis answered, “Yes, they will bring a lot of light.”
“Does it worry you something could be discovered?”
“What worries me regarding this subject is the figure of Pius XII, the Pope that led the Church during World War II. They have said all sorts of things about poor Pius XII. But we need to remember that before he was seen as the great defender of the Jews. I don’t want to say that Pius XII did not make any mistakes – I myself make many – but one needs to see his role in the context of the time. For example, was it better for him not to speak so that more Jews would not be killed or for him to speak? I also want to say that sometimes I get “existential hives” when I see that everyone takes it out against the Church and Pius XII, and they forget the great powers. Did you know that they knew the rail network of the Nazis perfectly well to take the Jews to concentration camps? They had the pictures. But they did not bomb those railroad tracks. Why? It would be best if we spoke a bit about everything.”
A lot of people and powers were as bad or worse than we, is not an acceptable excuse, especially for the institution that has always projected itself as the standard of virtue in the world. Jesus always decried hypocrisy, never backed down from oppressors of mankind, never suggested that the politics of sacrificing the downtrodden for the greater good was acceptable religion or the right of any government, no matter what form that government or religion might take.
It should be evident to all that these egregious offenses against man and God have been done by the Papacy not innocently or accidentally, but with malice aforethought. Papal tactics remain today what they have always been, whether in classical, medieval, renaissance, modern, or postmodern to contemporary times. Cover-ups, denials, telling a different unsubstantiated story, and diversional finger pointing and outright fabricated lies remain the Papal MO. Scriptures detect that lurking invisible in the background are spirits, the greatest being Jezebel, whom God points out in the letter to the church of Thyatira is not only active in the church of the Papacy but is the major force present within the Papal confines of Thyatira which resist and oppose Christ, who is the Truth. Revelation 2 says this of the Papal Church and its devotion to the Whore’s doctrines, influence, actions, and powers. Jesus declares his thoughts and judgment upon her and those in the Church that are seduced by her lies and spiritual fornication. “… thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.”
The Catholic Church and the Papacy are co-conspirators who deal in the souls of men, throwing them aside like rags to be heaped upon a burning pile of refuse. But this is the judgment awaiting her and those that are her consorts. Meanwhile, she prepares a seat for herself upon the back of the great beast – antichrist – where she will sit like a queen with whom the kings of the earth will have committed all spiritual fornication with her; as the inhabitants of the earth, not just the Church, are being made drunk with the wine of her fornication. Flee from her is the advice given in Scripture. The EOE advises likewise.
