What Does The Future Hold For Bill Cosby?
Comedian and entertainer Bill Cosby is facing months, if not years of court hearings, filings, allegations, and accusations of how he abused, intimidated, and defiled hundreds of women. Having to hear such debasing details of even one of these criminal wicked encounters could be overwhelming for most, but for a serial rapist and sexual predator, he may be dull to the effects in part because he is probably a reprobate.
The definition of a reprobate in Biblical terms is one who is rejected by God because of wickedness. If that is Bill Cosby’s condition, then the courtroom circus is nothing compared to what he faces at the hand of a just God. However, all of the mess he is now facing may be his last chance to humble himself and repent, if it is possible for him. To date, all that is reported, is that Bill is fighting back and denying the charges and trying to salvage what he can of his fortune with insurance claims and countersuits. His reputation is all but destroyed and is only further damaged by what Bill is doing. This is not a picture of a repentant soul so it does not look likely that Bill Cosby can and will find any repentance.
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.” Hebrews 12:14-17
One of Bill Cosby’s more famous routines is his re-enacting what transpired between Noah and God over the Ark and the coming flood. Granted this is a comedy routine, but he made a mockery of the whole Biblical account. He made Noah out to be faithless and foolish with the questions he posed to God in their exchange. He applied his own humanism to Noah and showed real irreverence for God and the inspired word. In no way could I believe God was at all amused by this routine. This was a very serious matter to the Father and Cosby made it seem cartoonish. It is still more evidence that Cosby has no concept of reverential fear of the Lord or if he ever did, he no longer cares. More likely, it is unbelief and Cosby is seated as his own God, which is how he can conduct himself as he has in this quagmire he finds himself in.
Instead of trying to find some contrition, he has countersued the women coming after him and called them liars. Yet he condemned himself with his own testimony. Bill put faith in the belief that the deposition he gave roughly 8 years ago would remain sealed and that assurance by the court has failed him. Judge Eduardo Robreno who presided over the civil suit for Andrea Constand, looked at how many women came forward with the same allegations and partially unsealed Cosby’s deposition for the media and the world to see. Bill’s own words have exposed him and yet he still remains committed to denying his actions. His wife has been called to testify about what they have paid in settlements, as his business manager, but refuses to answer the questions in court. Bills legal team tried to have her excluded from having to appear as she is his wife, but by being in the position of the business manager, she was compelled to make a courtroom appearance. Camille Cosby is only covering up for Bill and it is not at all going to help him in the end. In fact, it will bring judgment upon her as well. He needs to be fully confronted (and I know that ultimately, the Lord will) with the ugly truth about what he has done and who he really is.
“Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men as theirs also was.” 2 Timothy 3: 8-9
Even if Bill Cosby is finally convicted, and sent to prison for his crimes, that is the tip of the iceberg for him in terms of what judgment is awaiting him. He is descending into deeper and deeper insanity which happens when one does not admit to their sinful condition and repent. The world has already seen it in a contemporary figure like OJ Simpson. When he was acquitted, that was the worst thing that could have happened to him while he is still living. The whole world has been able to observe his descent into insanity and his loss of everything he had amassed in this life to where he now sits in jail for other desperate crimes. Instead of being repentant and contrite about what he has done, he wrote a mocking book, designed to make back his fortune. However, the tables were turned on him when any profits were ordered to go to the Goldman family as restitution in the civil case they won against him. Bill Cosby will have some similar fate out of all this, unless he does find repentance. And that is only in this life. His eternal fate is looking like eternal judgment in the pits of Hell, and no one wants that as their end.
“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God and he shall be my son.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Rev. 21:7- 8
